For stem cells, they can be classified further as xenogenic, allogenic, and autologous. Autologous stem cells have the origins from the same animal. These stem cells are often used for transplants because they will not be rejected. Allogenic stem cells, on the other hand, come from a donor under the same species. When it comes to stem cells that come from a donor belonging to a different species, you refer to them as xenogenic stem cells.
Stem cells used in stem cell therapy don’t only have the capacity to develop into different tissues that the body needs. Moreover, these cells are beneficial in terms of healing.
